February 9, 2017 Hoosier Basketball Magazine's 2017 Girls Top 60 Senior Workout will be held at Heritage Christian High School in Indianapolis on Sunday, March 5, 2017. For most of the 36 year history of this event the Girls Top 60 has been hosted by Marian University, however, their construction project made hosting the 2017 event impossible. Sincere appreciation goes to Heritage Christian's Athletic Director Michelle York and head coach Rick Risinger for making this event possible at Heritage Christian this season. The 2017 Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top Senior Girls list is posted currently on this website under the "Top Senior Girls" tab. The Top 60 participants will be selected from this list and players will be notified through their school over the next week to 10 days. Added appreciation goes to Brent Compton and Pacesetters Sports in Terre Haute for their continued sponsorship of our Top 60 Senior Workouts.

January 10, 2017 With many county tournaments throughout the state last week, Hoosier Basketball Magazine covered many games and saw some outstanding performances… I went to Pendleton on Tuesday night and saw the Arabians in their first game of the Madison County tourney as they defeated Frankton on their way to winning the County Championship. I was also at the Ripley and Henry County tournaments this week. Congratulations to Batesville and Shenandoah for their victories in earning their County Crown. Chuck DeMoss ended his week at Southmont for the Sugar Creek Classic (Montgomery County showdown). Crawfordsville edged Southmont for the championship by two points in overtime. During that tournament Caleb Randolph of North Montgomery registered his 1000 career point. Dale Lawrence was in Plainfield for the semi-finals of the Hendricks County tourney on Friday night as Tri-West defeated previously unbeaten Danville and Cascade upended Plainfield. Tri-West won the Hendricks County Tourney on Saturday. Larry Jerrell covered the Greene County Tournament on Friday and he witnessed Shakamak’s Tanner Yeryer score 38 points including 10 three-pointers in a losing effort against Eastern Greene. Linton got past Eastern Greene by four points on Saturday night to collect the tournament hardware. The girls showdown between Homestead and Carmel Saturday afternoon was the best game that I have seen this season. This overtime two-point thriller was decided by two free throws made by Carmel’s Blake Smith. These teams are likely to meet again in the state tournament. Finally it is always great to watch a game at the Historic Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Frontier edged North White in the first game of the D-One Husker Classic on January 7th. I ended my basketball week at Mackey Arena as the Boilermakes earned a nice victory over the Wisconsin Badgers!
